John A. Deaver American Legion Post 12, Jackson, Tennessee
American Legion Post 12 of Jackson, Tennessee is one of the oldest and most distinguished posts in our state. Post 12 received its temporary charter on August 4, 1919 and the permanent charter was granted on March 25, 1921 making it the 12th post established in Tennessee and one of the oldest in the United States! From World War I forward, our Post has enjoyed a long and active history. We are revitalizing our post with the addition of new members and we are moving towards a full slate of officers. Our building is currently located at 130 Airways Blvd, Jackson, TN and we have held meetings in various locations now that the facility is being leased to another entity. We invite you to join Post 12 as a new Legionnaire or transfer from the national organization in order to enjoy local participation.

The Post Vice Commander is Michael Thompson who is a veteran of the United States Army during the Conflict in Grenada. He is a recent addition to Post 12 and resides in Madison County, TN.
The Post Adjutant is Past Commander James Lott, who is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is a Vietnam Veteran. He has been a member of this post continually for 27 years. He has also served as Commander of a DAV post and a local VFW post.
The Post Chaplain is Rev. Orrey C. (Buddy) Holyfield who is a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era. Buddy is a Minister with the Friendship Baptist Church of Friendship, TN and resides there. Contact him through the post website with spiritual needs or for referral for counseling.
The Post Service Officer is Jim Austin, a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Southeast Asia in the Vietnam War. Jim is a Financial Advisor and assists families with estate and retirement planning. He is an excellent appointment for Service Officer for Post 12.
